Whenever Kyle leaves before the crack of dawn on the weekends for avalanche training or ice climbing or whatever mountaineering class he’s currently in, I always think I’m going to be able to sleep in and make myself a decadent breakfast and eat while catching up Masterpiece’s Victoria in bed.
I’ve moved around a lot in my adult life. Often I realize that at some point, a certain possession I once had has been lost in the shuffle… and I can’t pin point exactly when. Today is Freya’s first birthday!
… and while I did restrain myself from going all out and throwing her a birthday party at the dog park, complete with party favors, party hats, and a pupcake, I did make some homemade dog treats to share with her friends.
Ah! Autumn is upon us! And one of my favorite fall traditions is Oktoberfest. Thought I haven’t yet attended the original Oktoberfest in Munich, many cities throughout the US have created their own little mini Oktoberfest celebrations. Beer, polka music, bratwursts, pretzels… what’s not to love?
These late September mornings and evenings here in Boulder are refreshingly brisk, and promise all things cozy and comfy are on the horizon. It happens around this time every year… I start craving my favorite comfort foods. And as a midwestern farm girl, my comforts are usually equally high in calories and flavor. If you’re looking for a low-fat, low calorie dinner, this is not it.

A few years ago, I was one of those jerks that prided myself on not being just another sheep caught up in the drama of dumb reality TV shows. I was better than that, after all.
