A few years ago, I was one of those jerks that prided myself on not being just another sheep caught up in the drama of dumb reality TV shows. I was better than that, after all. I watched wholesome, quality programming like You’re The Worst, Broad City and Game of Thrones (ha!). I wouldn’t dumb myself down to watch that garbage…
Oh, the naiveté…
It all started when I Want To Marry Harry premiered on May 20, 2014 on Fox. Thrilled by idea of watching a bunch of beautiful, but dumb and very shallow American women compete for the heart of a young British man, who they were gently guided to believe was Prince Harry, I decided to give reality dating shows a chance. And it was fantastically awful. It didn’t even air for the whole season! The show was cancelled after something like 4 episodes. That meant I was able to binge watch the rest of the season since they released the unaired episodes online. It was gloriously trashy. And I loved it.
So, when my roommate Patrick knew two of the women competing for Chris Soules’s affection on the 19th season of The Bachelor, Monday nights became a thing in our household. And then, when Kaitlin, whom we all adored, was announced as the next Bachelorette, of course we would watch! AND THEN, when I learned about Bachelor in Paradise, where all of our favorite (and least favorite) cast members spend a few months on a sandy beach in Mexico, I was done for. A few premiere parties later and I’m officially a part of “Bachelor Nation”. [exaggerated eye roll to self]
So now you’re thinking, “Okay, but The Bachelorette premieres on Monday. How can I put together a premier party before then?”. Easy! Check out my tips below for pulling together a cute shindig at the last minute.
Rose Pizza Bites
My Rose Pizza Bites are SO cute and SO easy. And they’ll be easy for your guests to eat, too. Nobody wants difficult-to-handle party food. Check out my step-by-step guide to make these little beauties.
To counter the savory, make these easy Strawberry Roses. Stick a skewer or lollipop stick in the bottom to make a stem, and serve in a vase with a fruit dip or forego the ‘stems’ and place them atop a fruit pizza.
Just pour some Rosè or Champs… no one wants to drink anything other than that when watching The Bachelorette. If any of your guests don’t drink, consider picking up sparkling juice, too. They can still enjoy sipping a pretty, bubbly beverage with everyone else.
If you don’t have champagne flutes in your glass cupboard, you can pick up some recyclable ones from Target or snag these from Amazon.
Candles. All the candles. And sprinkle these rose petals.
If you’re not participating in a Fantasy League, ask yourself, “should I even watch this season?”. I loved commissioning a league last season by following along with this blog. They provide a spreadsheet for tracking and the points breakdown every week so all you have to do is plug in the points for each contestant every week and everything else is automatically calculated. Their episode summaries are also hilarious.
I did all the work for you! Just download my BINGO printouts and distribute to your guests. You can even do this at home by yourself for regular mid-season episodes.
That was easy, right?
